The remaining players are then allowed to make bets. These bets are then gathered into the main pot. The player who had the most money in the pot at the end of the betting round is the winner. This is sometimes the same person who made the all-in bet, but in some cases, a player who has only contributed a small amount of the pot is eligible to win it.

Some poker variants award the pot to the low hand, which is known as a “gutshot”. A gutshot is a straight completed from inside. However, a gutshot is less likely to hit than an open-ended straight. A gutshot is also called a trip. The player can check-raise, which is when a player raises the next bet in the same round.
